These terms apply to the website and vocabulary-learning service provided by Articulate Mastery, based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
1. Using the service
Articulate Mastery provides vocabulary explanations, examples, practice questions, and progress-based review. The service is for learning and personal use; it does not provide an accredited qualification or guarantee a particular educational, professional, or examination outcome.
You must be at least 13 and legally able to agree to these terms. If you are below the age of majority where you live, you must have a parent or guardian's permission. You must also comply with laws that apply to your use of the service.
2. Your account
Provide accurate account information and keep your sign-in credentials secure. You are responsible for activity you authorise through your account. Do not share credentials, impersonate another person, or use an account that you are not entitled to access. Contact us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access.
Email/password sign-in and optional Google sign-in are available. Google sign-in is also subject to Google's terms. Keep access to your email address and any connected sign-in provider so that you can receive important account messages and recover access.
3. Acceptable use
Use the service in a way that respects other people, the content, and the security of the app. You must not:
- Attempt to access another user's information or bypass authentication, access controls, or rate limits.
- Disrupt the service, introduce malicious code, or overload it with automated requests.
- Use the service for unlawful activity, harassment, fraud, or infringement of another person's rights.
- Copy, scrape, redistribute, or commercially exploit the app or its content beyond what we authorise or applicable law permits.
- Submit reports or communications containing information you are not entitled to share.
4. Content and feedback
The app, its original learning material, design, and branding belong to Articulate Mastery or their respective rights holders. We give you a limited, non-exclusive permission to access the service for your own learning, subject to these terms. Third-party quotations and other attributed material remain subject to their applicable rights and licences; these terms do not restrict rights that the law or an applicable licence already gives you.
You retain any rights in feedback or reports you submit. You permit us to use those submissions to operate, support, and improve the service, subject to our privacy policy. Do not include unnecessary sensitive or confidential information in feedback.
5. Privacy and account communications
Our privacy policy explains how we collect, use, retain, and share personal information, including Google sign-in data and learning activity. Please read it alongside these terms.
We send emails needed to provide and protect your account, such as verification and password recovery messages. Using the account service does not enrol you in a marketing mailing list.
6. Free and Paid plans
Free provides a selection of starter vocabulary content so you can try the app. Paid provides access to the full current learning library while your paid subscription is active. The plans are for one person's learning account. Creating a Free account does not authorise a payment.
Paid is offered at USD $9 per month or USD $72 per year, before applicable taxes. Annual billing is a single yearly payment, equivalent to USD $6 per month and approximately 33% less than twelve monthly payments at the current monthly price. The annual plan is not a monthly instalment plan.
Checkout shows the amount, billing interval, applicable taxes, and currency before you confirm payment. Stripe may offer payment in a local currency; the checkout amount and any conversion terms shown there apply to that purchase. Availability depends on your location and our payment provider's supported markets and restrictions.
7. Billing, renewal, and cancellation
By confirming a recurring purchase, you authorise payment for the selected monthly or annual period and automatic renewal at the applicable recurring price until you cancel. Any future price change will be disclosed in advance with notice and options required by law.
Checkout and billing are provided through Stripe Managed Payments and Link. Link acts as merchant of record for these purchases and provides payment terms, receipts, invoices, and transaction support. Your card statement may identify the purchase as LINK.COM followed by our business descriptor. Applicable payment-provider terms are shown during checkout.
You can manage billing from Plan and billing in account settings. Cancel at period end to stop renewal while keeping access through your already paid period, or choose immediate cancellation to end paid access now. Neither option creates an automatic refund. Your saved learning progress remains when you return to Free. A pending cancellation can be undone before the subscription ends. Link also provides order and subscription management; follow the effective date shown when making a change through Link.
A monthly-to-annual change is previewed before confirmation and applies after payment succeeds, with a prorated adjustment. An annual-to-monthly change is scheduled for the next renewal and can be undone before it takes effect. If a payment fails, access lasts only through an already paid period; restoring a valid payment and paid subscription restores Paid access. Refunds or disputes may affect the access covered by the affected payment.
8. Refunds and consumer rights
If you have a problem with a purchase, contact [email protected] with your account email, purchase date, and a description of the issue. We review refund requests case by case. We do not promise a fixed voluntary refund window or an automatic prorated refund for an unused part of a billing period. Cancelling renewal does not itself request a refund.
Link can also review transaction-related requests and may issue refunds under its policies. Our case-by-case policy does not limit any applicable statutory cancellation, withdrawal, refund, warranty, or other consumer rights, including protections that apply in Canada, the United States, Europe, the United Kingdom, Australia, or elsewhere. Where the law requires a refund or other remedy, those requirements apply.
9. Availability and changes
We may update learning material, correct questions, change features, or temporarily suspend the service for maintenance, security, or operational reasons. We aim to preserve saved progress, but continuous availability and uninterrupted access cannot be guaranteed.
Material changes to a Paid offering will be communicated with notice and remedies required by applicable law. If we discontinue a paid service, we will address remaining paid access and any required refund or other remedy under those requirements.
10. Ending your use or account access
You can stop using the service at any time. To request closure of your account and deletion of its personal information, email [email protected]. Signing out or disconnecting Google does not delete your account. We will handle requests as explained in the privacy policy and applicable law.
Stop renewal through your billing settings before requesting account deletion, or explicitly ask support to help cancel your subscription as part of the closure request. Signing out, disconnecting Google, or removing the app does not cancel recurring billing. We coordinate account closure with billing cancellation and retain records where lawfully required.
We may restrict or suspend access when reasonably necessary to address a breach of these terms, unlawful use, or a security risk. Where appropriate and practicable, we will explain the reason and give you an opportunity to address the issue.
11. Learning material and liability
Learning material may contain mistakes, and reasonable people may differ about wording or usage. Please report problems so we can review them. The service is provided on an as-available basis and, to the extent permitted by law, without promises that every item is error-free or that it will meet every individual need.
To the extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for indirect or consequential losses arising from use of, or inability to use, the service. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limits mandatory consumer rights, statutory warranties, or other protections available to you.
12. Applicable law and concerns
These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the applicable federal laws of Canada, subject to any mandatory protections provided by the laws where you live. No provision requires you to give up a legal right that cannot be waived.
If you have a concern or dispute, please contact us so we can try to resolve it. These terms do not require mandatory arbitration or prevent you from seeking remedies available under applicable law.
13. Changes to these terms
We may revise these terms as the service changes. We will publish the updated terms with a new date and provide additional notice for material changes where required. Changes will not remove rights you already have under applicable law. If you do not agree to updated terms, you may stop using the service and request account closure.
